The Fountain #18: Back To The Future, The Bottlenecks Of Bureaucracy And Overregulation, & Crypto IRL Solutions

Hello Vitalians!

This week's edition come with a back-to-the-future storytime and a list of solutions that crypto could adopt (+ an invitation if you're interested in any of them 👀)!

A Place For Technologies That Save Lives and Benefit Societal Development – Science Fiction?

Today, I'd like to tell you a little story! Cozy up :)

☕️

Once upon a time, there existed a small village with scattered settlements and modest trading ports.

It was mostly rural, with small communities reliant on fishing, agriculture, and salt production.

One day, a violent storm swept over the village, transforming it forever.

The storm brought with it:

  • The status of a free port, setting the foundation of a major trade hub

  • A wave of infrastructure development—roads, ports, and modern facilities

  • Low taxes and free-market policies, drawing in foreign investment and fueling its growth

The quiet, little-known, small fishing village experienced a magnificent metamorphosis, becoming a global financial powerhouse.

Today, that small village stands as a world economic leader—Hong Kong.

With one of the busiest ports, a booming financial sector, and a reputation for resilience and innovation, Hong Kong is a global symbol of success and drastic development and growth.

🌱

Dear, change is tough. But it rewards wonderfully.

This story, my friends, exemplifies the mission we're in:

With Vitalia, we're working to be a hub that facilitates the development of technologies that save lives and benefit society. Imagine a Hong Kong incubator (on steroids :D); for broader applications, where it's needed with industries that are the most stuck.

And we're starting to do this in the heart of a country that needs it the most—Honduras! (The homeland to your author here ♡).

And, of course, this is not an easy path—who said it would be?

We aim to be the Hong Kong, Dubai, and Singapore for The Americas, a Silicon Valley for Honduras.

We’re on a long and ambitious mission. Our goal is to build a model and protocol that other countries can adopt, one that demonstrates:

  • a better alternative to the traditional financial system,

  • a better alternative to the over-regulated healthcare system,

  • a better alternative to selfish governments.

Right now, bureaucracy and overregulation are the bottlenecks for advancement and technological progress, and we aim to change that.

If someone back in the 1950s had told you about Hong Kong’s explosive growth over the coming decades and invited you to be a part of that — What would've you done?

Well 😉

Let's check back here in a few years—or, better, if you’re passionate about radical, progressive change, let’s talk now!

Vitalia City year 2124? 👀

🌃 Needed Solutions That Crypto Could Address

Crypto.

One of our strongest pillars.

Crypto is the solution alternative to traditional finance → faster, borderless transactions with lower fees and no intermediaries, as well as solutions that might not be available through conventional banking (e.g., Niklas, our Vitalia Founder, collateralized himself with crypto to buy his apartment).

Can you imagine what building a city that runs on crypto would look like?

Now, the thing is: there are things that crypto solves (or could solve), and there are things that crypto does not necessarily address.

Now, there are some solutions that crypto can take on that we still need. Such as:

  • Smart contracts FOR social uses (like citizenships)

  • Auditable public treasury

  • Asset tokenization and hyper-liquidity

  • Debt financing for new developments

  • Off-ramp solutions for more adoption

With the upcoming Crypto Cities Builders' Program, that's exactly what we'll dive into! 🫡

With this program, we're inviting crypto/web3 solution-makers, builders, and founders to join us in developing real solutions and/or improving existing ones.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to see you in Vitalia! 🦄

We have a number of $1K scholarships available funded by Gitcoin!

⏰ Tick, Tock: From $500 to $1,000 Countdown!

Friendly reminder that we've extended the Vitalia Access Pass price increase deadline!

The price for the year-long pass is currently at $500 until Oct 10th.

Starting Oct 11th, the price increases to $1,000.

Remember also, that if you secure your pass pricing now, you can renew it for multiple years at the current rate of $500!

👉🏻 Get your Access Pass for the first time / or renew it to lock in your price for the long run: market.vitalia.city

Renewal example: If you lock in that rate, you can renew it, let's say for three years, for $1,500 total. Compared to waiting, where $500 for the first year, $1,000 for the second, and $2,000 for the third — a total of $3,500 for the same three years.

Back to the future, Hong Kong in the early days, before it turned into what it is known for now, might have been seen as science fiction, but now it speaks for itself.

Let's build the next one over this hemisphere?

See you next week, builder!
