The Fountain #7: Acceleration Program And A Sun Tan & How To Pitch Your Startup Effectively

Hello hello!

I know you really missed last week’s edition, but fear not - here we are again! 😉

This week, we're covering the past Bio-Contech Summit highlights, 5 steps to pitch your company effectively, and a rundown of the events Vitalia will be participating in!

(Quick update: Town Hall recurrence is now going to be 1x per month (except during July on the Summer Program, which will be weekly!) 🗓️ Next Town Hall will be on Friday, June 14th)

☀️ Got Summer Plans Yet?

We've put together a summer program with startup acceleration workshops, community activities, and deep-dive summits.

Kudos to Jackson Steger (with "AgriVision Próspera: Building the agricultural Blue Zone lighthouse to feed the future) and to Eli Dourado (with "Color: Gene Therapy To See The World") for being the winners at the pitch competition!

🤓 Quick Ed

How To Prepare To Pitch Your Company in 5 Steps, from Niklas Anzinger

#1 | In the first slide, clearly state what your company does in one simple sentence. And also state it at the end. In the rest of the presentation, add more details and color to elaborate on your company.

#2 | Keep it very short. The shorter, the better. More than 5 minutes is too long. You can practice doing the "elevator pitch" and say what you do in 30 seconds.

#3 | There is a difference between live pitching and one-to-one pitching

  • In live pitching, you want to be very short and concise. You typically present together with other companies.

  • When you pitch one-to-one, actually what you want is just a fluent conversation. A chat where you give a little intro, your one-liner, and then you go into different areas based on the other person's interest so that you can connect.

#4 | Be high-energy! Don't be boring. Make power statements, i.e., snappy sentences that people remember. It's more about being memorable than being precise or getting all the information across.

#5 | Give key investment information. Clearly state your stage, funding amount, and instruments (e.g., raising $1 million on a $10 million valuation using SAFE notes). Include the "Why is this a big opportunity" (But it's not the market size slide).
